The AXA Art Collection Acquires the Entire »Landscapes« Series

In 1984, the AXA Art Collection began with the purchase of an oil painting from 1937 by Ernst Wilhelm Nay entitled Lofoten. Numerous works of art were added in the following years. Thus, works of Art Informel were acquired as well as those of Abstract Expressionism. But also representatives of Color Field Painting, Concrete Art and Fluxus can be found. Groups of artists such as Zero, the Nouveaux Réalistes, the Jungen Wilden or the Young British Artists are represented alongside numerous relevant individual positions. Well-known artists of the collection are for example Günther Lecker, Gerhard Richter, Joseph Beuys, Joan Miró and Andy Warhol. To this day, the art collection is being expanded. Among the latest acquisitions are works by the British artist Julian Opie and the photo series Landscapes by the New York-based German artist Elias Wessel.
