Was Jetzt Ist – 30 Jahre Raketenstation Hombroich marks three decades of artistic life and work at Raketenstation Hombroich. The exhibition opens on September 6, 2026, at 3 PM at the Siza Pavilion and remains on view through March 7, 2027, Friday through Sunday, 12–5 PM. As part of the anniversary program of Stiftung Insel Hombroich, it brings together artists connected to the Raketenstation Hombroich, including Katharina Grosse, Michael Growe, Tadashi Kawamata, Imi Knoebel, Georg Schmidt, Elias Wessel, and others.

Soon after Karl-Heinrich Müller acquired the former NATO missile base, the first apartments and studios were occupied in the former military buildings at the end of 1994. The site subsequently developed into a place of artistic exchange across visual art, architecture, music, and literature. The practice of inviting artists and guests into dialogue continues to shape the Raketenstation today.

The exhibition opens on September 6 with a day-long program across Raketenstation Hombroich:

12 PM
Opening of daylight by guest artist Anna Schütten, with a sound installation and works by Judith Anna Schmidt with Helene Appel, Laurence Egloff, and Monika Jarecka in two of the Three Chapels in the Kirkeby Field.

12–3 PM
The studios of Ute Langanky and Oliver Kruse, Halle 24 with the studios of Michael Growe and Georg Schmidt, as well as the guest studio of Judith Anna Schmidt, are open with individual presentations. In Halle 24, Michael Growe and Elias Wessel present works together.

2 PM
Opening of Wachhaus #22, an installation by Niels Fäßle at the entrance to Raketenstation Hombroich.

3 PM
Opening of Was Jetzt Ist – 30 Jahre Raketenstation Hombroich at the Siza Pavilion. At the same time, the Rooms for Photography present the premiere of if the balloon went up…, a video installation created for Raketenstation Hombroich by the artist duo Korpys/Löffler.

4:30 PM
Concert by Annette Elster (voice and presentation) and Christoph Staude (piano), featuring works by Georg Kröll, Gerhard Lampersberg, and Christoph Staude, in the Event Hall.
